The Sound of the Night

New Orleans Jazz & Brass Bands in Seattle

Tuba on the bottom, trumpet on top, a snare that makes your feet move before you decide to. This is the sound that turns a party into a parade.

Traditional jazz and brass band

A traditional jazz band brings the sound of early New Orleans — clarinet weaving through trumpet and trombone over a walking rhythm. A brass band is louder and looser: tuba, trumpets, trombones, sax, snare and bass drum, built to move through a crowd. We book both, from a cocktail-hour trio to a 7–9 piece band for a grand ballroom.

In Seattle, our bands play everything from downtown hotels to backyard tents in Tacoma. Expect “When the Saints Go Marching In,” brass band standards and party anthems re-arranged for horns — the kind of set that gets Bellevue guests singing along by the second chorus.

The second line

A second line is the New Orleans parade tradition: the band leads, and everyone behind it — the second line — dances along, waving handkerchiefs and parasols. We use it for grand entrances, for leading guests from cocktails into dinner, for wedding-style sendoffs and for the moment a fundraiser needs a jolt of joy.

Room layout matters less than people expect. Hallways, terraces and ballroom aisles all work. We walk the route with your Seattle venue in advance so the parade lands precisely on cue.

FAQ

Jazz & Brass Bands FAQ

Can I book just the band?

Yes — choose “Jazz / Brass Band only” on the quote form. Trios, quintets and 7–9 piece bands are available in Seattle.

What is a second line parade?

A New Orleans tradition: the band leads, and everyone behind it — the second line — dances along waving handkerchiefs and parasols. Perfect for entrances, sendoffs and moving a crowd to dinner.

Do you take requests?

Absolutely. Send a list in advance; brass band arrangements of pop and R&B hits are a crowd favorite.

Does the band need power or a stage?

Acoustic brass needs neither for parades. For seated sets we bring a compact sound setup and need a standard outlet near the band area.
